SPRINGHEAD1: RT @eventsdoncaster: 22/02/12 - Tonight: Battle of the Brewers at Cask Corner - Great Heck, Raw & Springhead battle it out

Our History

tank1tank2tank3Springhead Brewery is a large modern micro brewery producing a wide range of beers brewed in a traditional way using natural English ingredients: malt, hops, and yeast and without any additives.

It began life in 1990 in Sutton on Trent as the smallest brewery in England, gaining a place in the Guinness Book of Records with a brew length of just 2.5 brewers barrels (about 10 casks for a day's work). Successful recipes soon led to national prizes and a huge increase in sales, so the brewery moved in 1993 to its second premises where it expanded to a 10 brewers barrel plant.Further success increased capacity in 2003 to 50 brewers barrels, making it one of the largest  micro-breweries in Nottinghamshire.

This year, Springhead outgrew its site at Sutton on Trent, and in May 2011 it will relocate to a converted old mill in the centre of the picturesque village of Laneham near Tuxford in North Nottinghamshire. This provides much more production, office, and storage capacity and enables the brewery to develop a brewery tap and visitor centre.

Brewery tours can be booked on 01636 821 000 or by filling a request form here.

Springhead beers in their finest form can always be found at the brewery's pubs:   The Bramley Apple on Church Street, Southwell, Notts and at The Vine Hotel on Barnbygate, Newark, Notts. Both pubs also sell a range of beers from microbreweries across the country. The Bramley Apple has excellent bed and breakfast accommodation.
