Roaring Meg - reviewed on Brewski.co.uk by Matthew Coupe

http://brewskie.co.uk/reviews/197/2011/03/springhead-brewery’s-roaring-meg-5-5-nottinghamshire-united-kingdom/

When you first see this Meg-jestic beer in the glass it comes across as a sweet and innocent little blonde; harmless and welcoming. However when you finally make your move, it kicks you directly in the hops. Weighing in at 5.5%, its light, moreish flavour disguises its roar potential. Named after a canon this beer certainly isn’t just fodder for a big session and needs to be treated with a little care and a lot of respect. With such a lovely flavour, try not to get ‘megged without it at least touching the sides or its Meg-nitude will mean your trip to the pub quickly descends into a roar-cus occasion. It is a lovely beer for a summer’s day so be careful to drink it up quickly while you’re under the sun or it will go roar-ten.

The Real Ale Guide

This month's featured beer is Roaring Meg - The Big Blonde.

Available from all good Springhead stocking Pubs (or if not suggest they take it in...) or available from Morrison's, local Tesco, Co-ops, Sainsbury's, Majestic and Waitrose supermarkets.

But be careful...she bites.

"This is a dangerous beer this! ....A dangerous beer!"

Reviews from our drinkers

Jonathan Baker:

I was recently scanning the beer shelves in Morrisons for new ales and noticed The Leveller. I bought a couple of bottles to try out. Best decision I ever made! I try to go for bottle conditioned beers where available, but they are quite rare in this neck of the woods (Petts Wood). But at last a beer that tastes like it's bottle conditioned. I don't go very much for hoppy beers except maybe in the Summer, so this one really suits my palate. Thank you very much! Trouble is, my wife likes it too.

Matthew Rowe - brewery tour review:

Just a quick note to say a big thank you for the tour last Friday night.  All involved had a good time and were very impressed with the beers and the hospitality shown by yourself and the rest at the brewery.
I have had a couple of very positive comments :-

"A most enjoyable evening. Educational, amusing and as much fine beer as you could drink! Well done Matt! It’s gonna be hard to top that mate!"

"Just a note of thanks for organising the brewery trip. I didn`t wake up with a headache so will try harder next time."

 J Roberts, Retford:

Reviews from our publicans

Chris Aucott - Interval Cafe Bar Manager, Sheffield Students Union

We shifted about 150 pints of it from 5pm last night, so I'd say it went down pretty well! You won't be surprised to hear that Roaring Meg, was a 'Roaring' success! Quite a few of the staff like the strong beers! Someone else said that they generally don't like the winter spiced beers but liked yours! Robin Hood beer went down well, we did about 40 pints. All in all everyone was happy. Richard (who looks after our beers) sampled a little of each and said they were great. Also had some positive feedback about your branding, everyone thought it was really modern and bright.
